Embarkation Ladder

The embarkation rope ladder is a flexible climbing tool used for personnel to vertically board and alight ships, offshore platforms, or aerial work facilities, and is widely applied in maritime affairs, offshore engineering and other fields.

1.Structural Composition

It is mainly composed of high-strength synthetic fiber ropes (e.g., nylon, polyester) or steel wire ropes as the main ladder beams. The rungs are made of wood, aluminum alloy or non-slip plastic with uniform spacing (usually 300–400 mm). Both ends are equipped with connecting components such as hooks and shackles for fixing to the ship's deck, gangway opening or platform guardrail.

2.Main Applications

For crew members, pilots and maintenance personnel to board and alight ships when the vessel is berthing or at anchor

For personnel transfer between offshore platforms, drilling platforms and shuttle boats

Served as a backup embarkation access in emergency situations (e.g., gangway malfunction)

3.Safety Requirements

It must comply with maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS Convention) and undergo regular strength testing and maintenance

Safety harnesses and anti-fall devices shall be worn during climbing, and the ladder must be kept vertical and stable to avoid shaking

Overloading is strictly prohibited, and use is forbidden under severe sea conditions (e.g., strong winds, huge waves)

4.Features

Advantages: Lightweight, easy to store, strong adaptability, and can be deployed in narrow spaces

Each ladder shall, in accordance with the specified requirements, undergo a strength test for the connections between the ladder and its steps, with a test interval of approximately 30 months. Ladders that fail the test shall be promptly refurbished or scrapped.
